Its been a while (about a year) since I've done anything with my blog or even Blogger as a platform, but this weekend I've been testing out some features of our lightcast video player. I needed a place to embed a player so i dropped it here on the blog in an HTML box.
This got me thinking about smaller churches who are struggling with the prospect of setting up their own church online. So after a very little bit of tinkering i set up what could be a very usable church online instance for any church. I grabbed a chat from livestream, and a "share it" bar from the gadget library and dropped them in too. I'm sure there are other things that a church might want, but most of them are easily accomplished with the gadget library or some pre-built html code somewhere.
The other cool thing is that its easier than ever to change the design/layout of a Blogger blog. They have added some very cool tools to play around with, and even though I have no professional design skills, I was able to tweak something to my liking.
So what do you think? Could your church use something like this for streaming your services?
