Anyways, because of that, and we are about to celebrate Jesus' birthday in a few weeks. It got me to thinking about the difference between the way we celebrate our birthdays, and Jesus' birthday. Primarily the presents.
When we celebrate birthdays, we give the birthday boy presents. We pick out toys at the store that he will like, or we give him a gift card so he can buy something he will like.

Except when it's Jesus' birthday. He kinda gets jipped. He usually gets jack from us.
Well, at my Mama Nell's we would always have a "Happy Birthday Jesus" cake, and we would light candles and sing the song and everything, but that's not really a present now is it. Nope. It's cake for us. Jack for Jesus.
Because money/economy/budget/othernotfunstuff is a big topic of discussion both in the news and at church, it makes me wonder how many people have been budgeting Jesus right out of December. They haven't created the margin to give something to Jesus. I know it sounds funny.
What do you give to God? If your already a Christian, that could be a hard question to answer.
What about an easier question. What does God want from us?
Take a minute, read this .
Here's the punchline if your short on time:
...to share your bread with the hungry, to bring the poor and homeless into your house, to clothe the naked when you see him, and to not ignore your own flesh and blood...
This year I hope you can figure out a way to get something for Jesus. You know what he really wants.
