#Tribes Group Blogging Project - Day 18
Obviously, everybody has their own way of doing a book review. I'm kind of a bullet point thinking guy, so these are my big take aways and lines that hit me hard. I've grouped them by section title so that you can comment and poke holes. :)
The Easiest Thing
Take the Follow
This one can be hard. Especially for church leaders. When leadership opportunities arise, it can be tempting to try to take the reins on the project and run, even when you don't have a clue about how. Sometimes it is just ok to follow.
The Difference Between Things That Happen to You and Things You Do
Permeability
Leaders Go First
You can change the status quo in your world. You don't need permission. You don't need backing. You need initiative. You need to go first.
The Easiest Thing
"Response is always better than reaction. But both pale in comparison to initiative."This is something I can be very guilty of. Reacting and Responding are both easy. They take little effort, but rarely do they get things done or take you anywhere.

The Difference Between Things That Happen to You and Things You Do
"Leaders...don't have things happen to them. They do things."This is where Leaders are often proven. Watch how a person handles tough times. Those who make excuses prove themselves as slackers. Those who make do and get things done prove themselves as leaders.
Permeability
"The heretics not only live to tell about it now; they actually thrive."After reading this I realized how blessed I am to work in a culture that rewards heretics. You don't have to ask to implement the next great idea. Just go do it. This is something that should happen in any organization. If your org isn't like that, challenge it!

Tribes: A Group Blogging Project
When I went to the Catalyst Conference last October one of the speakers just happened to be Seth Godin (he's this famous). I've been reading his blog for quite some time now, but to hear him speak really made quite the impression on me.
One of the coolest things was that as soon as his time was up, he says, " Oh yeah I'd like to give everyone a free copy of my book: Tribes".
WHAAAAT?
I jumped quick to get one. I've read it through three and half times since then, and am really excited to take part in a group blogging project that will take you through the book, extracting the best stuff along the way. I'd love for you to follow along with me, and join me back here May 5th for pp. 86-91.
You can check out a list of everyone participating here , I'll be looking for you in the comments.
